FAQs
Fuel Cards
Driving Down is a UK fuel cost management specialist that works on behalf of businesses to reduce what they pay for fuel. They negotiate directly with fuel card providers every week to get lower prices per litre, manage a client base of over 70 million litres of fuel per year. Automotivate has partnered with Driving Down so that fleet customers can access their services directly through us.
Driving Down act as your fuel card manager without you needing to change anything about your current setup. You keep your existing card, your existing supplier and your existing invoice process. Each week, Driving Down uses their market data and buying power to renegotiate your fuel price directly with your provider. You receive your usual price notification on a Friday, and Driving Down send you a revised, lower price on Monday, along with a report showing how much that saves you for the month.
No, the fuel card management service works entirely with your existing card and provider. Nothing changes for your drivers or your admin process. Driving Down simply negotiate on your behalf behind the scenes. If, in the unlikely event that your provider refuses to lower your price even with Driving Down's involvement, they can then arrange a switch to a partner fuel card that offers fair, transparent pricing. But this is a last resort, not a first step.
Driving Down's customers save an average of 12-15% per year on fuel card costs through their management service, and 20-30% on AdBlue costs through their direct-to-supplier pricing. The exact saving depends on your current provider, your volume and how far above market rate you're currently paying. Driving Down will analyse your latest invoice for free and give you a personalised savings estimate before you commit to anything.
No contract and no upfront cost. Driving Down's fee is based on a percentage of what they actually save you, so if they can't save you money, you don't pay. They also offer the first two to three weeks of management without any payment at all, so you can see real savings before you commit. Their view is that if they're delivering week on week, you'll have no reason to leave.
Driving Down can negotiate on your behalf with any existing UK fuel card provider. If a switch is needed, they have contracted agreements with multiple UK fuel card resellers. All Driving Down switch customers pay the same transparent price, they publish their rates openly and do not operate introductory rate schemes that increase after a few weeks.
Once Driving Down has your fuel card invoice, they can typically analyse it and report back your potential savings within a few days. Once you give the go-ahead, savings start immediately, from the very first week of management. The first two to three weeks are provided free of charge, so you can see real, tangible savings before any fee arrangement begins.
